ITINERARY:

Nov. 10 arrive in the capital Conakry, Guinea

Nov. 11-13 classes begin in Conakry, explore the city, attend ballet rehearsals, Welcome Doundounba*

Nov. 14-17 visit Kindia, shop in the fabric market, cool off in the nearby waterfalls, continue classes

Nov. 18-22 boat trip to isle of Roum for relaxation, swimming, classes

Nov. 23 classes in Conakry, final shopping, other arrangements & Farewell Doundounba*

Nov. 24 depart from Conakry, Guinea

Please make your own flight arrangements. Plan to arrive in Conakry by Nov. 10, 2008. It is possible to extend the trip.

* A Doundounba is a traditional dance/street party that features dancers and musicians from a dance company. They are usually performed for special occasions including a marriage or birth of a baby.


DAILY SCHEDULE:

8:00-9:00 a.m. Breakfast

9:00a.m.-12:00 p.m. Dance class

12:30-1:30 p.m. Lunch

3:00-5:00 p.m. Drum class

6:00-7:00 p.m. Dinner

Free time can be spent getting to know new friends, learning new languages, singing, creating with a tailor, shopping in bustling markets, playing with children, relaxing, trying new cuisine, exploring…

 

TRAVEL INFORMATION:

To travel to Guinea you need a valid passport and a visa for Guinea. You also need a Yellow Fever vaccination. Please consult the Center for Disease control (www.cdc.gov or 404-639-3311), a travel clinic or your primary care physician for information on malaria prophylaxis and other recommended vaccines.

COST:

Please send bank check or money order (sorry, no personal checks ) for $1300.00 for 2 weeks (3 weeks is $1600) payable to:

A reservation deposit of $500 is due by October 1, 2008. Complete payment is due by October 15, 2008. Once you have registered there is a $150.00 fee for cancellations.

Price of Tour Includes:

Dance and drum classes, all levels welcome; simple, safe, clean housing; 3 meals a day; planned excursions; transportation to and from airport in Guinea. This fee does not include airfare or visa.
